Dear Colleagues and Friends,
In light of indicators as a result of the world-wide greying society, successful and healthy aging is a serious issue confronting our global society. Dementia, other age-related diseases and long term care conditions are challenging our social and economic systems.
In observance of the International Day of Older Persons we would like to welcome experts from around the world to this international scientific event which examines these challenges in a different way. This is an interprofessional conference where social workers, nurses, physicians, pharmacists and physiotherapists as well as furthermore economists and politicians from Social Affairs will come together to discuss these multi-faceted issues.
It is a distinct honour for us to greet geriatrics professor emeritus László Iván, who truly represents successful aging and he is still active both professionally and socially. We thank him for serving as Chairmain of this Conference.
The meeting will be novel, because it will introduce the practise and theory of interprofessional elderly care. We wish to emphasize the necessary enhancement of complex and integrated solutions within the problems generated by this agrowing aging society. Furthermore, this is an opportunity to present not only the latest scientific results; but to also bring together social and health care systems and policies with input from international experts.
The conference will be novel, because for the I.st time in history it blends the annual meetings of the Social Cluster Association – which focuses on the innovation of the systems dealing with long term elder care – and the Hungarian Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics – which concentrates on the development and research of the elder medicine.
Besides Hungarian health care and social representatives there are foreign elder care experts participating in the event. It is our goal to present to you the following core objectives: Understanding of current concepts regarding elderly care; indentification of new and innovative approaches to elder care; examination of unique solutions to dealing with challenges for a growing and older population; and development recommendations for policy and systems change. This will be accomplished through active participation in oral presentation and posters.
The event is a great opportunity for sharing knowledge and experiences dealing with elders and for getting to know other professions. Furthermore, the conference offers a possibility to gain information about the latest news from the world and to share domestic best practices within an international environment. Finally, the event will be an outstanding platform for building both professional and personal relationships.
We welcome and await your active participation as we together build a common language to better serve our elders now and in the future.
On behalf of the Social Cluster and HAGG sincerely yours:
dr. Ágnes Egervári
President of the Social Cluster Association
Prof. dr. Béla Székács Prof. dr. István Kiss
